on april 5th, musée de l’elysée lausanne opened their bold new exhibition ‘controversies: a legal and ethical history
of photography’. the show looks into the controversies that have arisen in the medium of photography, since its
invention in 1839. these political, ethical and legal issues have arisen in all realms of the crafts, from art to politics
and from science to advertising. this show will run until june 1st and showcase a large number of photographic
works that have been the target of legal controversies. the works cover a broad range of time periods that each
reflect the ideals of different time periods.
